Claremore, home to world-class museums, antique shops, and amazing dining options, seems to offer interesting events every month. February is no exception, according to Tanya Andrews, executive director of Visit Claremore.
On February 2nd visitors are sure to enjoy the Will Rogers Classic Livestock & Rabbit Show presented by Rogers County 4-H and FFA Youth. The show, held at the Claremore Expo Center, starts at 9 a.m. Contact 918-923-4958 for more information.
Claremore Downtown Shopping District, located in historic downtown on Will Rogers Boulevard, is hosting “Paint the Town Red” on February 2, from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. Participating merchants can be easily spotted by a 1st Saturday poster in their windows. These merchants will be offering discounts and store specials in honor of Valentine’s Day.
Horse lovers from near and far will be on hand February 16 and 17 for the Will Rogers Classic & Spring Open Horse Show (AQHA Rules Apply). The Expo Center is the place to be for this event starting at 9:00 a.m. both days. Contact 719-850-2818 for more information.
February 23rd is Daisy BB Gun Day at the JM Davis Arms & Historical Museum. From 10 am – 3 pm, kids through age 18 may shoot in the Daisy Indoor BB Shooting Gallery. The top marksman in the age 12 and under category and ages 13- 18 will win a custom-made Daisy BB rifle. Contest is free to all age 18 and under. Adults may shoot for a $3 charge. While in Claremore, a visit to the Will Rogers Memorial Museum is a must. The memorial to “I never met a man I didn’t like,” Will Rogers, is an amazing showcase to Oklahoma’s Favorite son.
The J.M Davis Arms and Historical Museum houses the largest private collection of firearms in the world. It’s also home to historical items. It’s a must-see while visiting Claremore.
